About us
We’re Whit and Julia Richardson. Whit has a lifelong interest in hospitality and has always cared about helping people feel welcomed and supported. Julia is a licensed physician assistant. She understands how overwhelming medical information and care coordination can feel, for the person at the center and for everyone trying to help.
Alongside began with our own family. As our parents experience memory decline, we’re learning how hard it can be to keep everyone informed, find the right words, and stay connected through change.
In our own family, updates sometimes traveled through separate conversations. The people closest to what was happening were tired of repeating the same information, while others still wanted to feel included. We wanted a simpler way to keep our people connected—and leave more energy for being there for one another.
We’ve also seen that the same need can arise at any age whenever familiar routines or support are disrupted: through serious illness, recovery, a move or another difficult transition. Alongside is our effort to make that a little simpler: one welcoming place to share everyday moments, organize plans, and bring in practical help if it’s ever needed.
Families don’t always agree, and relationships can be complicated. Alongside gives people who care about someone a shared place to stay connected around them—with room for different relationships, clear boundaries, and a common wish to show up.
Two siblings may find it difficult to coordinate with each other, but both want to stay close to Dad. They can share updates and help with plans while respecting the circle’s sharing choices. Everyone is there by invitation, and the person at the center decides who belongs and what each person sees.
We don’t have every answer, and no tool can lift every burden. We hope Alongside helps your people stay close.
